This past academic year, the Open Science Community Eindhoven continued to grow as a space for informal exchange on open science practices at TU/e. We organized a series of lunch meetups where researchers, data stewards, and students came together to discuss practical challenges and ideas around making research more open, transparent, and reproducible.
Across the year, our sessions covered a range of themes, including:
- research data management and new institutional RDM policies
- making research data FAIR in real-world practice
- reproducibility in code and initiatives supporting it (such as CODECHECK and 4TU.ResearchData)
- open data infrastructure and tools for research and design
- how academic assessment shapes research culture and incentives
- broader reflections on the limits and future of open science
Together, these discussions showed that open science is not only about tools and policies, but also about everyday research decisions, institutional structures, and the culture we build in academia.
Beyond the meetups, we also took a few steps as a community this year. We launched a new website (https://osceindhoven.nl/), started a newsletter, and introduced a member spotlight to highlight people in our network. We also welcomed 12 new members!
A big thank you to everyone who joined our events, asked questions, shared experiences, and contributed to the conversations. The community depends on this kind of participation and exchange.
Looking ahead, we hope the next academic year will bring even more engagement, new ideas, and continued growth of the community. There is still plenty to explore in open science, and we look forward to doing that together.
